Hundreds of guests came out to celebrate Earth Day and
discover the inner workings of the recycling process at the state-of-the-art,
material recovery facility (MRF), TotalRecycle.
Owned by local solid waste company, J.P. Mascaro & Sons, this Berk’s
County located operation processes 700 ton of recyclables a day. Customers
saw the groundbreaking technique first hand April 20th during an
Earth Day commemoration.
The visitors toured the facility and observed the automated
recycling sorting process in action. TotalRecycle is the only facility of this magnitude in the
area. With its beautiful but efficient infrastructure, TotalRecycle is
capable of processing almost 20,000 ton a month. That equates to 560,000
homes a week or over 50 cities the size of Reading. TotalRecycle plays an essential role in
the successful and expanded recycling efforts in, not only Berks County, but
the surrounding counties and states.
Guests
enjoyed food catered by Collegeville Bakery.
TotalRecycle works with businesses, waste haulers, municipalities and
residents to enhance sustainability efforts.
The facility offers tours to customers and potential customers, as well
