PIONEER CROSSING LANDFILL UPGRADES FACILITY

Pioneer Crossing Landfill continues its efforts to upgrade its site with an ongoing renovation program at its regional landfill in Berks County.  Ongoing improvements continue at the landfill with the emphasis on state-of-the-art environmental containment, and a campus like presentation of facilities within its complex.

Ryan Inch, Director of Engineering, for the company, indicated there is tremendous pride with the ownership and workforce at the facility.  There is truly a commitment from the management to the daily line employees.  Our operating record speaks for itself and our demonstrated ability to coexist with the neighborhood.  He stated our company is truly a “friend” in the community.

At present, a major renovation has occurred at the administrative center to provide a better working environment for our support team.  Additionally, a beautification project has been ongoing to place a special emphasis on the proper presentation of the site to the public.  Painting, paving, and landscaping projects are ongoing, and at the end of the year, a major project will commence to beneficially reuse all gas captured at the site.  Presently all gas captured is transformed into electricity.

Pioneer Crossing principally serves the counties of Berks, Montgomery, Chester, Lehigh, Bucks and Philadelphia County.  Only 7% of its waste stream comes from outside of these zones.  It is the principal depository for J. P. Mascaro & Sons, who is the principal provider of municipal services in the region.
