Message from the President Pasquale N. Mascaro

Dear Valued Customer:

This year, our company has experienced record volumes in the residential waste placed at the curbs/alleys of our valued municipal contract customers.  This reality, with our "liberal" collection practice of collecting everything placed out for pick-up regardless of our contractual obligations, has placed a strain on our collection crews.  This has resulted in some challenges not previously planned for nor experienced.  This record increase in the volume of residential waste streams has negatively impacted our yard waste capability.

Additionally, our recycling operations are experiencing double the amount of contaminants (trash and non-recyclable materials) being placed in recycling containers for collection.  This fact affects the processing and marketing of the recyclable materials and significantly depreciates their marketability for re-use. However, unlike our competitors, we remain committed to recycling and have invested another $5 million into our existing $20 million dollar state-of-the-art single stream recycling facility.

We are also pleased to report that our food waste processing capability is increasing each month, as we are committed to keeping these waste streams out of landfills by employing re-use, reduction and recycling methods and applications.

             J. P. Mascaro & Sons is a family owned and operated business with our third generation intimately involved in all segments of our business.  We are committed to the long-term within our industry and we are guided by the motto of our founder, J. P. Mascaro, Sr., "If It's Service, It's Us."

We thank you for your patience during this challenging period of time as we alter our collection system to assure continuous, uninterrupted service.

                                                                         Sincerely,

                                                                         Pasquale N. Mascaro
