Lackawanna Transport Company, a J. P. Mascaro & Sons-related entity, was recently awarded a new five year Solid Waste Facility Permit by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection for its Wetzel County Landfill in New Martinsville, Wetzel County, West Virginia. The Wetzel County facility serves residents, businesses and industries in the regional area.
Company President, Pat Mascaro, said, "We are very pleased to receive this facility permit from the DEP. Our landfill is an important part of the regional waste disposal infrastructure. We have served customers in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia and in Eastern Ohio for many years, and our facility has permitted capacity that will enable us to continue to do so for the next 50 to 75 years."
Located in West Virginia's Wasteshed A, the Wetzel County Landfill is one of only 18 DEP-permitted landfills in West Virginia. That number includes the Brooke County Landfill, another Mascaro-related facility, located near Weirton, West Virginia, 26 miles from the Pittsburgh regional area.
The Wetzel County Landfill is a double-synthetically-lined disposal facility that exceeds West Virginia's regulatory design standards and that has all of the environmental protection and control systems required in a modern facility.
Facility Managing Engineer, Ryan Inch, P.E., said, "The Wetzel County Landfill, like all J. P. Mascaro & Sons-related facilities, is committed to environmental compliance." Inch added, "Environmental compliance and customer satisfaction go hand-in-hand, and both are top company priorities."
