CarbonLITE, the world's largest provider of food-grade post-consumer recycled PET plastics, has entered into a long-term contract with J. P. Mascaro & Sons, a major waste removal/recycling company with a stronghold in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
CarbonLITE, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, now has three large processing facilities. One is located in Riverside, California; another is located in Houston, Texas; and the third, a newly-constructed 270,000 square foot facility, is located in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
The new Berks County facility will produce 85 million pounds of post-consumer resin per year. CarbonLITE chose the Berks County location to be close to two of its major customers, Nestlé Waters of North America and Niagara Bottling, both situated in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Sam Augustine, Director of Sales for Mascaro, said, "Our company was the logical choice for CarbonLITE. The CarbonLITE facility operation is waste removal intense due to its size and to the fact that the plant operates 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. CarbonLITE concluded that Mascaro is the company best-suited to provide the comprehensive and continuous waste services that are required."
Augustine added, "We will serve the CarbonLITE account with 10 large self-contained compactors and 10 or more large open-top containers, and our company's ability to provide the required comprehensive services is unique, due to the fact that we have extensive company-owned and operated infrastructure (i.e., a collection division, a landfill, and a modern recycling facility) within 20 minutes of CarbonLITE's new plant."
Speaking to the contract award, company President, Pat Mascaro, said, "The selection of our company was a very rewarding tribute to our upper management team that worked diligently with the CarbonLITE team, who concluded that Mascaro is the best choice to meet the significant resource requirements and service requirements for CarbonLITE's new Berks County plant."
Both CarbonLITE and Mascaro are recognized leaders in their respective industries, and both companies are looking forward to a mutually beneficial long-term business relationship under their new contract that will start this September, with the plant moving into full production a short time thereafter.
