The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has awarded a 10-year permit to Lehigh Valley Recycle.  This facility is located in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County and is one of Pennsylvania’s largest waste transfer facilities, owned by local solid waste and recycling conglomerate, J.P. Mascaro & Sons.

“Lehigh Valley Recycling is an integral part of our company’s business infrastructure and it enables us, on a long-term basis, to provide the highest quality services for our customers and for third party users of waste transfer in Lehigh Valley and its surrounding areas.  We have the resources and expertise to help businesses and industries manage waste in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner,” Mascaro President, Pat Mascaro, Sr. explained.

Mascaro takes tremendous pride in operating a sustainable business.  With over 50 years of experience, they have mastered a “Sustainable Waste Service System” that promotes clean living and a healthy future. This system is one that maintains and sustains itself over time by taking into account and balancing the three vital “sustainability” concepts of economic growth, social progress and environmental protection.

Sustainability must be at the foundation of any bona fide entity engaged in the solid waste industry in order to provide excellent service.  Mascaro is 100% committed to sustainability in all business operations and practices and extends that commitment to its customers.  This not only enables business that work with Mascaro to decrease their carbon footprint but often times allows them to save money while doing so.

The Lehigh Valley operation is one of 19 Mascaro owned facilities dedicated to sustainability.  Six other locations recently received new permits, including Great Valley Recycling Transfer Station, Pioneer Crossing Landfill, White Pines Landfill, A&M Composting and TotalRecycle, one of the largest and most technically sophisticated recycling operations in the country.  Having a fully integrated waste system allows Mascaro to provide waste and recycling solutions that have been proven superior in the industry.

The Lehigh Valley Recycling Transfer Station operates six days a week and is permitted for 4200 tons of waste per day, including 100 tons of recyclables.  It handles municipal waste and approved residual waste.
