J. P. MASCARO & SONS' TOTALRECYCLE FACILITY EXPANDS PROCESSING CAPABILITY TO 145,000 SQFT

TotalRecycle, Inc., a J. P. Mascaro & Sons-related company, and the owner and operator of a modern automated single stream recycling facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania, announced the completion of a 60,000 square foot facility expansion that will significantly increase the company's capability to process area recyclables.

Now at 145,000 square feet, TotalRecycle has established itself as a premier, nationally-recognized recycling facility.  In fact, as the recipient of a multimillion dollar grant from "Materials Recovery for the Future" (MRFF), a consortium of leading Fortune 100 companies, TotalRecycle, after a nationwide search, was chosen over all competitors as the only facility in the country to establish an automated system to recycle "Flexible Plastic Packaging" (FPP).  FPP is a common form of product packaging material that previously had to be landfilled.  With a new, advanced automated optical sorter system in place at TotalRecycle, FPP is now being successfully recycled and marketed as a new commodity known as "r-Flex."

Company President, Pat Mascaro, said, "TotalRecycle is proud to be leading the way in advanced recycling systems.  Our just-completed facility expansion was logical and necessary, as TotalRecycle continues to expand its customer base."  To serve its customers, TotalRecycle operates three shifts per day, and processes between 500 to 600 tons of recyclables each day.

After noting that the recycling markets have been in turmoil in recent years, Mascaro said, "Recycling is here to stay, and, unlike our competitors who are restricting and lessening commodities to recycle, our company is broadening its recycling capabilities through significant capital investments."  Mascaro added, "There is no way for a major participant to survive and flourish in the waste industry without extensive recycling capability."

J. P. Mascaro & Sons and TotalRecycle have that capability, with more than 300,000,000 lbs. of recyclables anticipated to be processed and marketed at TotalRecycle in 2021.
