J. P. MASCARO & SONS’ NEW RECYCLING FACILITY PROCESSES OVER 100 MILLION POUNDS IN 2016

Out with the old and make it new!  That has been the motto at local solid waste and recycling company, J.P. Mascaro & Sons since the February 2016 opening of its latest recycling center, TotalRecycle.  Located in Berks County, PA. J. P. Mascaro & Sons collects recyclables for over 80 municipalities and transports them through their new cutting-edge Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).  It has already processed over 100 million pounds of material since the doors opened.

“We receive the recyclables mixed together and our innovative technology combined with our expert sorters separate the products into their own commodities”, explained TotalRecycle’s Director, Joseph Mascaro, Sr., “The ability to process materials in this way is an exciting time for our industry and our environment.  We are thrilled with our early success and expect even more in the New Year”.

TotalRecycle’s processing rate is projected to grow to over 1,200,000 pounds per month with the addition of a new contract with the City of Allentown.  The facility has the ability to adjust to even larger amounts without having to make any changes to its current operation.

“My family has dedicated their lives to environmental stewardship and this facility is another great example. We want to invite any community, educational or municipal group of all ages to schedule a tour and see our state-of-the-art operation in action”, said Director of Environmental Compliance and a member of the family owned company’s third generation, Matt Mascaro.

Further setting this MRF apart from others in the country is its community Drop-Off center. This 10,000 sq. ft. building gives the public a reliable, safe and easily assessable location to dispose of all recyclables, particularly those that are generally difficult to find a home for.  Such items include, but are not limited to, grocery bags, tires, e-waste, polyester products, all metals and both sorted and non-sorted plastics.  The community is welcome to enter the main driveway and follow signs to the location spot where a TotalRecycle representative will greet each person and walk them through the process.
