Local solid waste company, J. P. Mascaro & Sons, has a well-established history of
supporting school and community educational initiatives, with the latest example being a $10
million commitment to such initiatives over the next five years.
Speaking to the $10 million commitment, company President, Pat Mascaro, said, “Our
company has been actively involved in this segment of the community for many years, and we
are happy to be in a position to increase our level of participation.
“My father and company founder, Joseph P. Mascaro, a man of limited education
himself, was a strong proponent of education in others. He firmly believed a well-rounded
education to be the key to individual and societal development,” said Mascaro.
In recent years, Mascaro’s participation in educational initiatives has exceeded $6 million
dollars, including student scholarships, environmental educational tours, educational grants, educational capital improvements, community library support, and the development and
implementation of Mascaro’s “RESPECT” Program, an interactive educational program
presented to over 300,000 students in area elementary schools that reminds young children of the
importance of respect in their lives, including respect for the environment.
Lindsay Mascaro Ptaszenski, the company Director of Education and Community
Relations, said, “With this recent $10 million commitment, our company will continue its
support of a broad array of educational initiatives, as it has before.
“Nothing but good comes from such initiatives, whether at the school or community
level, and my job is to make sure our company maximizes its support of beneficial educational
initiatives,” added Ptaszenski.
“Our company’s continuing commitment to the educational sector has also had a positive
business benefit as well,” said Ptaszenski, “with Mascaro now providing waste-related services
to a growing number of schools and educational institutions.”
