FRANK "THE CHIEF" MASCARO HONORED BY PENNSYLVANIA SPORTS HALL OF FAME

On Friday, October 20, 2023, Frank A. Mascaro, of Trooper, PA, and one of the owners of local waste company J. P. Mascaro & Sons, was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Montgomery County Chapter, together with seven other area athletic honorees who excelled in various sports disciplines, including Tony Darden, Tiffany Abney, Dale Hood, Chris Kwortnik, Christy Morgan, Kristin Sommar, and Charles Blockson.

As a member of the 2023 Hall of Fame Class, Frank was honored with the "Unsung Hero" Award.  Accepting the award for his late brother was Mascaro company President, Pat Mascaro, who did not speak to Frank's athletic achievements, which were impressive, but rather spoke to Frank being an "Unsung Hero" in the truest sense of the word – a person who significantly achieved and contributed, yet is not celebrated or recognized, and did not seek either.

Pat described his brother Frank as a "24-Carat Individual," a man not guided by position, power or prestige, but rather by compassion, generosity, and goodwill.  Frank loved people and they loved him, and his generosity knew no bounds.  He was an avid sports fan and truly was a sports benefactor, whose unmatched generosity benefited countless individuals, teams and organizations over the years.  And his lifelong personal goodwill towards others was his calling card and is his legacy.

Frank's legacy continues even today, 10 years after his passing, and will do so for decades to come in the form of a Charitable Foundation that bears his name and supports and assists numerous individuals, groups and causes, many of which are athletically focused and others which are not, just as Frank had done throughout his lifetime.

As his brother Pat said when accepting the award on Frank's behalf, "In my eyes, Frankie was a Hall of Famer in the world's biggest game – the game of life, and although he is no longer with us, Frank continues to be an Unsung Hero."
