The J. P. Mascaro & Sons, Francesco A. Mascaro Memorial Blood Drive, is going strong,
and Blood Drive organizers, Mrs. Susan Lee Mascaro and her son, Pat Mascaro, Jr., could not be
happier.
“The response to this Blood Drive in Frank’s memory has been overwhelming, and we
hope to far exceed our goal of 1,000 donated pints by the time the Drive concludes in
September,” said Pat Mascaro, Jr. “Frank gave so much of himself to others when he was alive,
and now thousands are honoring his giving spirit by donating much needed blood in his memory.
If Frank were still here, he would be the first in line to donate,” added Mrs. Mascaro.
The Memorial Blood Drive, sponsored by the American Red Cross, “kicked-off” on
March 13, 2014, at Mascaro’s Corporate Headquarters in Audubon, Pennsylvania, and it was
tremendously successful. A second Drive at the Mascaro site was recently held on May 14,
2014, with like results, and two additional Drives at the Mascaro site are scheduled for August
5th and August 9th. The Blood Drive will continue through September 2014 with multiple donation dates and locations being scheduled to make blood donation as easy as possible for the
many participants.
Over 30 businesses, groups and organizations are participating in this Memorial Blood
Drive by hosting Drive efforts at their sites in Frank’s memory on different days. Among them
are: ARC Alliance of Montgomery County, Shannondell at Valley Forge, YMCA Audubon,
Methacton High School, Citizens Bank, Birdsboro Borough, PTR Bailer, Blessed Theresa of
Calcutta School, Birdsboro Community Memorial Center, Forino Builders, Reading Fighting
Phils, Lamar Outdoor Advertising, Boy Scouts of America, Big Vision Foundation, Scranton
Prep High School, Berks Christian School, Mount Airy Resort Casino, Hunter Keystone
Peterbilt, and others.
The need for blood locally remains constant, and donations are really important now to
offset summer blood shortages that occur every year. “Those who participate in Frank’s
Memorial Blood Drive will be donating blood during this critical timeframe, and all participants
will get the added benefit of receiving a commemorative Blood Drive T-shirt,” said Mrs.
Mascaro.
