On Saturday, October 22, 2022, the Pioneer Crossing Landfill will host a "20 Year Anniversary Celebration Event" in recognition of the "public-private partnership" between the Landfill and the local Citizens Advisory Board headed by lifelong Township resident, Glenn Hoover, since its formation 20 years ago.
The celebration event will take place under-tent at Pioneer Crossing between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., where Landfill neighbors, Pioneer Crossing employees, Advisory Board members, and others will enjoy tasty appetizers, a catered Italian buffet, specialty desserts, assorted beverages, and live entertainment.
Speaking to the anniversary celebration, Landfill company president, Pat Mascaro, said, "Pioneer Crossing is very proud of the cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship it has with the local community and with its Landfill neighbors. Our company is committed to and is active in the community, and our facility operation has provided and will continue to provide substantial economic, social and environmental benefits to the community at large."
Mascaro added, "The Citizens Advisory Board was formed 20 years ago to serve as a liaison between the Landfill and the local community, and during that entire time, Glen Hoover has been its chairman. He has served with dignity, he is a fundamentally fair man, and he is always mindful of the needs of both the community he serves and the Landfill, without favoring one over the other. He has been instrumental in the cooperative spirit and goodwill that exists between the community and our facility, and we look forward to his continued guidance and service."
The event will also serve as the "kick-off" of the new long-term partnering relationship between Pioneer Crossing and Archaea Energy, one of the worldwide leaders in processing landfill gas into "renewable natural gas" that is "pipeline quality" and that is beneficially used in place of fossil fuel-based natural gas. Renewable natural gas is used as a replacement for diesel fuel in vehicles, as a heating source in buildings, and in numerous industrial applications.
Speaking to this new affiliation, Pat Mascaro said, "Archaea is a recognized leader in green gas energy production and we are thrilled to partner with them." Mascaro added, "For many years, our company, through on-site facilities, has been able to beneficially use the landfill gas generated at Pioneer Crossing. Our new green gas agreement with Archaea, which will commence in January 2025, will greatly improve upon our landfill gas beneficial use efforts."
